Mosquito repellent?
Okay, I went out last night and got EATEN ALIVE by mosquitos!!
What do you guys do for mosquitos? Full length camo with gloves? I was in a short sleeve camo shirt and I'm still itching!! Do turkeys have a good sense of smell? Thanks, Nathan |
RE: Mosquito repellent?
wear long sleev for bugs and for full camp purposes but if you want to get rid of mosquitos GARAUNTEED you need to get a thermacell. plain and simple. they are amazing just turn it on witha fresh pad, and 15 minutes later no more mosquitos what soever.

ORIGINAL: RIStrutStopper Thermacell. It works. After 5 minutes, no more mosquitos. I don't hit the woods or the water without my Thermacell. |

RE: Mosquito repellent?
do they make any noise when there on?

RE: Mosquito repellent?
Therma-Cell, I won't go in the woods without it. Whoever invented this thing is a saint!

RE: Mosquito repellent?
I used my 1st Thermacell and I work in the Bug Repelleant industry as I support the product called OFF!
Yes Thermacells are well worth your money - No they are real quiet and do not affect the birds - and I even put a string on mine so that I could drape over my neck and get up and run......if needed.. I also used the string to help hang it form trees or brush....... JW |
RE: Mosquito repellent?
Thermacell works great... Kept away the hordes of skeeters and blackflies last spring in MAINE the first week of June...
They don't make any noise, except a very light "click" when you press the igniter button.. There is some odor, but turkeys have little or no sense of smell, so that's not an issue... Despite the odor, I've heard that some bear and deer hunters have had good luck with them, too, and bears and deer certainly DO have a sense of smell..Never tried it for those critters, but for turkeys in the spring they are just the nuts.... |
RE: Mosquito repellent?
camo out from head to toe. long sleeved camo shirt, a netted face mask, etc... If you are camoed out, then the mosquitos / nats can't get to you very easily. Turkeys don't smell very well at all...it would be fine to spray mosquito spray on you, but I don't think it is neccessary to do so if you are camoed out completely. Full camo also helps conceal you from a gobblers eyes (servers multiple purposes).
