Hunting Journals

Iam thinking of starting my own personal journal for hunting. I am going to record dates, times, weather, and the location I was in that day. It seems like a great way to look back at past experiences good or bad and learn from them. Who else records a journal, on paper or CPU, do you find it worth while? Any other ideas or tips would be appreciated.

Oh I do and have for over 20 years......

There is a software program you may wnat to check out.......search under Game Traxx. This program you enter data and then can plot, relative humidty, temperature, solunar tables, lots of things and see how sighting the game you are after and see peaks and valleys.

Oh and there is one thing I learned quite well this year - even a slight temperature drop will make the birds develop Lock Jaw! No talkie.......

That sounds like a great idea. I will have to check out that site. It's cold as all get out up here in Maine. Just as the season is starting. I did see a young lady that had harvested one this morning while driving down the road. I have to wait another week, Hopefully my journal will end in a good result.

I record time, temperature, location and observations each visit out. I often do my writing while idle in a hunting spot. It is a pretty boring journal..;)

This is a journal that my nephew made for us to use starting last year. It works well and is in a spiral binder so that we may add pages as required.

I have kept a journal for several years I record all of my hunts plus scoutting and game camera photos in it. I keep a record of the weather, moon and etc.. I also keep a harvest log book which gives in detail everything about the hunt the score of the animal along with photos. By taking the time to do this I have been able to pattern game and know how game will move based on weather informtion.A journal is also a great way to get into writing.
safe hunting.
