hevi 13

anyone shoot hevi 13s new loads?? particularly the 2oz 3inch mag load??? still says the velocity is 1090fps..id have to imagine that would be a devistating load in 6s. right now i shoot the old remington hevishot high velocity loads of 6s...forget what the ounces are..and got a box of hevi 13 1 3/4 oz 5s i havent patterned yet..might have to try the 2oz loads for next season...im down to my last 2 or 3 remington loads...will get me through this season though..

anyone know the conversions for hevishot to #s of pellets in an ounce??

I intend to try them after my suppy of Nitro's runs out. "IF" I can find a shell that patterns as good, I'll switch!!;)

RE: hevi 13

my remington 6s pattern excellent. i really like them. and they definently penetrate my pattern board(wooden pallet) much better. i can usually dig out lead and copper plated lead BBs. the hevi shot always blows through...havent patterned my hevi 13 5s... i wanna get my hands on the 2oz loads..i think they would make an awesome pattern even better...i always wondered why all the hevi loads were loaded kinda light..even though they weigh more than lead. you figure they could put as much shot in a 3 inch mag of hevi shot as they do lead..which they have 2oz 3inch lead shells...why not a 2 1/8th or 2 1/4 oz load in hevi shot?? would be the same number of pellets and same volume as lead 2oz loads(since it IS heavier than lead..) i dont know...i think too much lol.

all i know is im itchin to put the smack down on a gobbler next weekend with the hevi shot. 2 years carrying them i havent fired. been too caught up in "watching the show" and not shooting. i cant count the birds i passed shots on the last 2 years i could have rolled...when im watching the show enjoying the hunt something always foils the shot. one day a herd of cows chased him...another time a jake ran in and busted me when he stepped on my pant leg...etc etc...man i love turkey huntin

The hevi 13's don't pattern well at all in my setup( 870 SPS-T). They didn't do well in my other gun either. The Rem. hevi shot magnums are awesome in both of my guns. The high velocity does pretty good also, but not as well as the mags. I use the 3 1/2 inch 5 shot. I also use the jellyhead choke. I won't use hevi 13's, but I'm sure they do well in some guns.

Superstrutter beat me to it! The hevi 13's patterned terrible in my 870 SPS-T as well. I was getting bad patterns with the Hevi 13's at 30 yards with a Primos Jellyhead. I switched over to the Federals and haven't looked back. I am confident out to 50 yards with the Federals. Of course patterning is something you have to do and they may pattern wonderfully in your gun. Best of luck!
