Fitting first mouth call

Help! Would really like to try a mouth call this season. Can't figure out how to work the damn thing. Not sure if it's positioned right, maybe too big, won't stay on the roof of my mouth. I can't even talk with it in it; either falls down on my tongue, falls out, or gags me. Any advice!!?

you can try trimming the material, little bits at a time. Its not going to stay stuck the the roof of your mouth, and unless you put it over to your cheek, its very tough to talk with one in.

trimm a little at a time. Short reed goes towards your tongue. The key is to get a good seal in the top of your mouth.

if it is falling off the roof of your mouth then you prblyhave it to far foward you should try pushing it abck a little bit thats what i found. and as fo triming it. i wouldnt do it. you get the best sound when no air passes around it. no body can really tell you how to use it because its hard to explain over the internet hah but just listen to turkeys in the field or listen to hunters on movies.

hope it helps

good luck this season.

I have so far trimmed every call I have purchased in order to get a good seal. Everyone's mouth is different, so you may need to do some modifications to get the call to fit right. It is going to take some time to figure out what the right fit is and to become proficient at it. I would buy a couple of the exact same call, and try to trim them up to your liking, leaving one of the calls in its original form so you can always compare it.

Keep your tongue against the back of your bottom teeth. it will cause the middle of the tongue to push up against the mouth call. then huff the word chick. keep practicing!

There should be a instruction page with your call.
Like others have said you can trim it a little bit at a time.
To get it to form to your mouth set it on your tounge then press against
the roof of your mouth then suck while your tounge is pressing against call and roof of mouth,Then try the call sequnces on instructions.
Hope this helped.

Trim the tape as small as you need to. I run calls with no tape at all. Just keep trying. It may not stay on the roof of your mouth without tongue pressure. No big deal. Just move it between you cheek and teeth to talk. I am sure you know this but, make sure the open end of the call is facing out. Huff air over the reeds like you are cleaning a pair of glasses. Use different tongue pressures and positions to get the sounds. Open and close your mouth with every note. That makes you move your bottom jaw. That alone will give you better sounds. Good luck.

YaHoo!! We now have a sound-not sure how much of a turkey sound but I have a two hour commute every day to practice on it. Thanks for the feedback!
