turkeys and snow
 

Its been unseasonably cold and even calling for snow tonight, tomorrow is youth day here in VA. Locals are saying to save my gas and stay home because they will not gobble,but I think my son and I are going to go anyway. What do you think is it worth it or should I wait for more "average" temps?

I killed a gobbling long beard up in Dolly Sods, WV in 4" of snow one season. Here in NH we got 8" the other day and the turkeys up hereare still gobbling on roost and strutting their stuff around hens.

It sounds like someone doesn't want you out there in the morning! I'd maybe add long jons to thelist of things to wearfor the mornming and go out there and call one in for your son ;)Be sure to take your camera so you can take photosand show the locals what a waste of time it was:D

put it this way any day is a good day.even if you dont score its better to be out there then sitting at home wondering........good luck.

We had a late snow a couple weeks ago and I shot my first 3D shoot of the year with snow on the ground. The course was littered with turkey scratchings and tracks. Chances are I wouldn't have noticed all of the sign had it not been for the snow.

I promise that you will not kill a turkey laying in bed. Drag your youngin' out of the sack, bundle him up, and go shoot a bird. I'm too old to hunt youth day (by quite a bit), and I have to work so I couldn't borrow a kid no way. Go kill one!
