Any advice for a beginner?
I'm wanting to get into turkey hunting this spring and have not the slightest clue where to begin...haha...I've got a few buddies here at college that are big into it that said I should give it a try since I love deer hunting and all..I guess my question for you guys is do you have any advice or tips for me? Anything from start to finish about how the hunt should go and what to do or what calls to use or where to set up...I'd REALLY appreciate it guys...thanks

RE: Any advice for a beginner?
Do alot of reading on this subject and read all the post in this forum , don't forget the back pages.
Theres alot of info right here in this forum where other newbes like your self had asked the same questions. Like the Dr. said go to the ( www.nwtf.com ) for more info and tips on calling , they have a page in there on turkey calls. Here's another site to check out ( www.treetopturkeys.com ) they have a page on calling also , make sure your speakers are turned up. Good luck to you this season :) |
RE: Any advice for a beginner?
Its not their nose, its their eyes and ears the you have to be carefull of. They aren't very bright, but their survival instincts are very strong and they will decide to leave for any little reason.
They are delicious. |
RE: Any advice for a beginner?
Don't mean no offence Mossy, but you mentioned you had to buddies that were into turkey hunting? Wow, and they will not guide you? Man, I have given up my shooting to assist and call for some of my newbie friends that want to go with me.
Like the others have mentioned, ask many questions to turkey hunters, the NWTF and read all you can. Hey, many fine Articles on the Net about turkey hunting, not all of them, but some.:) When is the closing date for Spring Turkey in your area? |
