I will be hunting the southern part of missouri. The birds are really gobbling hard. Still hened up pretty bad, but I believe killable.

I will be hunting in north central Missouri during the regular season. Yesterday (3/27 ) I saw 3 strutting toms with 8 hens in a bean field but only heard one gobble the entire morning. I'd just as soon the birds don't get to fired up until a couple more weeks. Good luck to you and be safe.

Anyone familiar with Bosworth, MO. (Carrolton County I believe), saying it's a real small town is an understatement but nice country. I've an uncle who says to come visitand hunt his land (turkey and deer)and I'm seriousley thinking about it. Does Mo. have a fall turkey season because ours just started here last weekend and goes out to May 15 so I'm thinking the fall.

BKE, Bosworth is a nice little town near the Grand River. It is in Carroll County.I hunt just 7 miles away in Chariton County. You will like the territory. Farmers were out planting corn on Tuesday. Some big ol' eastern gobblers in Carroll County. Good luck !

BKE, forgot to answer your ? Missouri has a fall turkey season that starts around first of Oct. Toms and hens are both legal to kill.

Yea Texas county is like Pike county is for deer for turkeys. Anywhere in MO is pretty darn good tho. That's why we have the biggest kill numbers. Anyway good luck this season!

Oh yeah.....MO....the turkey capitol of the known world! You bet I'll be out there as usual. This will be the 14th year in a row that I've taken off work for the first two weeks of the season. There's not a better time to be off work and be in the woods IMO!

you too MOmightymite, good luck and have fun.

Thanks Antler Addict. Sorry I got the county wrong, I think Carrolton is the closest bigger town other than Heil which is small like Bosworth. They're like long lost family so I've been out there for a visit the past 3 years and I love the country there, nice and quiet. Haven't hunted yet which is why I asked, I want to plan on it this year. Uncle rotatessoy beans and corn, I'm surehe told me it's corn this year. Let's hope the birds and the bucks like this years menu. Good luck

Going out on the youth hunt this weekend and will be going out during the regular season too.
I've heard it can be a lot harder to get a turkey during the youth hunt because the gobblers don't gobble nearly as much as they do during the regular season, is this true?
BTW, I hunt in Callaway County, a couple miles from Fulton.

RE: missouri

NO WAY!!!

the youth this year gots it good really good!!! i rather hunt this sunday (becuase rain saturday) than hunt on the regular opener. the gobblers are tearing it up right now!!! the cold weather is over, the birds are tearing it up!!!

see for yourself go out in the woods and give a few shock gobbles. right now is the time the gobblers are running the woods!!!

i think right when the regular season opens the turkey (rut) just peaked and is on the downfall.
youth is gonna get alot of turkeys this year becuase turkey opens up earlier.

RE: missouri

MOHunter88, yeah its going to be a little tough this year during youth season, not so much because the birds wont be gobbling as much,, which is true, but the reason is because the gobblers have lots of hens with them now, and thye dont have to gobble as much to attract them, as the hens start to nest and sit on their eggs, the toms will gobble more to find mates, and will be easier to call. Henned up birds are definitely harder to work with, but if you can find where they are going and cut them off, it can still be great. Good luck guys.

BKE Carrolton is a town close to Hale MO. Im hunting in Hale MO the 16th. Hale MO is in Carroll county. Hale is a small town and awesome. I'll be hunting with my good friend Don Cox at grand River outfitters. Let me just say the turkeys are great there. Its so great Im looking for land to buy there...

Arrowmaster, I agree it's good area out there. I've been into Hale twice, went into the local diner/bar to pick up some cold beverages. You've probably been in there also becauseI think it is the only one in town. That's my kinda joint, kinda place to sit/relax and shoot the breeze for a bit after a day in the woods. Depending on which county road you take I don't think my uncles place is even 10 miles from Hale. I'd love to have just a little chunk of land out there, I'd settle for a fence row (LOL). Good luck!

Yep,

I will beready for opening-day in MO. Been seein' a few strutters and they are henned-up pretty bad right now. I hunt about 15 miles from the house usually, although I did hear a gobbler right behind the house earlier this week.

Good luck to all MO hunters,

Kodiak

I probably won't be able to go out until Saturday the 21st, but my brother-in-law found a great spot. He saw a ton of turkeys last fall during deer season, so I assume we will see deer next month!

We will be hunting in Saint Charles county, outside of Saint Louis.
