Single Shot for Turkey

I was just curious, has anyone used a single shot 12 or 20 gauge shotgun for Turkey Hunting? Ifso , what was your experience and what gun did you use, shot and all that.

I started with Springfield (think that is it, made by savage) 12 ga single, full choke using 3 inch mag 4 shot. I have since migrated to NEF 10Ga (extra full turkeychoke I believe),3 1.2 inchHV 5's seems to work well.

I used a NEF handi in a 12 ga. with a 3.5 inch shell and a extra full choke. And this thing will roll a turkey over out to 60 yards easy. My brother used it last year and shot one at about 65 yards.
It does kick like a mule, but you never feel it when you are hunting with it. Only at target practice.

I used an H&R® 12ga 28" MOD with Winchester® 3" Mag 1⅝oz #4 Shot to harvest my first Gobbler in 1978. My wife uses an NEF® Ladies/Youth Model 20ga for all of her turkey hunting. She uses Hevi•Shot® 3" #6's. Does a great job!

I have used my stevens 12 gauge and my son used a single shot H&R youth model 20 gauge we killed a good amount ofTurkey's with them.
The Most important thing is to know your shot distance and don't go beyond it.
I did call three Tom's within 20 feet, Come to think of it we took all our Bird's under the 15 yrd mark.

A single shot would work just fine! Your only going to get one shot anyways...

I've killed a few with my NEF 10ga... I really don't limiting myself to a single shot... I've had a few times that I missed on the first shot and smoked him on the second;)

I've killed a few with an old stevens 12 with a 36in barrel. 3in #4 mags. Had a fixedchoke, so 25-30 yards max. At 8 steps, i took his head off. literly, i did. I have an 870 super mag now, i wish i would have thought alittle more into it and bought the NEF 10 ga., But the 870 is a great gun too.
