Muzzys

What are your thoughts on 100 gr Muzzys for turkey. That is what I use for deer, and was wondering if they will work well or if I have to buy something different.

Just about anything will work if you hit them in the proper place. Doesn't matter if you cut the spine with a razor blade or a chainsaw, desired effect will be achived. Only issue to consider is that less cutting diameter equals less margin of error. Turkey's don't usually stand still real long.... and your vitals are about the size of a dixie cup.

I would use the 4 blade model. Muzzy is my broadhead of choice.

I use my muzzys for everything. Have the 3 blades and the phantoms.

I like to use the same muzzy's I used deer hunting (duller blades). I then turn my draw weight down also. You want a good hit and you typically want the arrow to say in them. JMO

This is my first season taking my bow to the woods to harvest a turkey. I have been told that an expandable gives you a larger margin of error so I am using an expandable the has 1 1/2" diameter. Previous post mentioned placing a washer between broadhead and arrow shaft to prevent a pass through with a fixed blade broadhead. Also, as earlier mentioned, turning down your draw weight will also help prevent the arrow passing through.

I have used muzzys for turkeys but I always put the stopper behind the blades it will slow the penetration and in most cases actually stop the arrow from going through and that is a big bonus to keep the arrow in the bird..Good luck and aim small..
