Question about gillotines

This will be my first yr hunting turkey with a bow. Question I have is about there flight and what to use to tune the arrows in.

RE: Question about gillotines

I am assuming if you shoot 100 gr field tips then the 100 gr gillotines should shoot just fine. From what I have ready they are supposed to fly as accurate as a field tip out to 25 or so yards.

RE: Question about gillotines

Buy replacement blades when you buy them. They are only good for one shot.

Also don't forget that your arrows will have to be longer than what you normally shoot, this is so that those wide blades don't come into contact with your sights.
Like AR 34 said, buy extra blades, because I have yet to find anything for a target to shoot without ruining blades when practicing with them.

RE: Question about gillotines

Another ? about the guillotines. Can you shoot these blades through the "shoot thru" mesh of hunting blinds like you can with other broad heads? Because they are thinner, longer blades, I figured it might effect them differently.

RE: Question about gillotines

I would not shoot them through blind mesh. Definately get the arrow they recommend or a longer arrow so that the head clears everything on your bow. Sight in the arrow and the head without putting in the blades. All I had to do was change my pin yardage. My 20 yard pin became a 15yd pin and so on. Killed a Rio with it last year in OK. Head was hanging by a thin piece of skin. Bled like a turkey with his head cut off!!

Supposed to fly like field points with NO WIND.
Give yourself a nice, steady breeze, and you will see some interesting planing.

So I could shoot the broadhead with out the blades without any bad things happening? I shoot at a layered target like the "Block".

RE: Question about gillotines

Thanks to all for the info think I'm going to stick with the broadheads I already use. Blades only good for one shot, not good for a breeze, zero tolerance for a slightly bad shot.

RE: Question about gillotines

You can shoot the head into a layered target, but it does make a good hole equal to the size of the head.
