Decoy head color
I've got my homemade decoy ready for action, but I'm tryin to decide the colors for the head. Can anybody tell me what color a gobbler's head usually is early in the season? I was going with an all white head with blue sides under his eyes and red neck and waddle. But I wanna know what colors would be more effective for early season. I wanna try to get it as close to perfect as possible b/c I've already gone to the trouble of making a decoy out of a dang basketball, :D.

RE: Decoy head color
Is that the one in full strut? If it is then stick the red white and blue head. Find some pics of strutting turkeys and go off that. If this isnt the decoy im thinking of then it depends on whether you want a dominant looking decoy or just subordinate. Dominate birds will typically have more blues and whites. Subordinates will typically be more red.

RE: Decoy head color
Yeah I posted some pictures on here the other day. I had him in full strut but I added another part where I could lay the fan back sort of in a half strut if I wanted to. It looks way better with the fan laid back because of the way his head sticks up with a neck. I've been lookin at pictures and experimenting with different colors, but you made a good point about submissive turkeys having more red on their heads soI'll probably go that route. I just heard the primos guys talkin about head color of B-Mobile throughout the season and was wondering if it made that big of a difference. I'm gonna post some more pictures on here this evening after Iget it right. Thanks for the info and good luck this season.
