RE: Team 5
Hope everyone using the video camera can get alot of footage and the big moment on tape. It will be fun to show others the tape of such a great opportunity and for you to go back in time and relive the hunt.
Pines, Thats a great thing that your going to do with the Wheelin Sportsman. I'm sure they will cherish that video. |
RE: Team 5

RE: Team Beard Busters [5]
Checking in for YB76,talked to him on the phone last night he's having connectile disfunction, hopes to be back up in a few days.
Thinking about video this year, but seems like I'm already loaded down. I bowhunt solo most of the time carrying blind, tripod seat, decoys, calls, thermacell, bow ,etc.. I will be videoing a youth hunt that I'm calling for, a free hunt that we held a drawing for at our COFA Expo last August. The winner is a 11 year old that has deer hunted a little before, never turkey hunted. Luckily he lives within a few miles of me,so I've been trying to coach him when I can. I think he's ready,I know he thinks he is. Hope we can get into some, only have one day youth here but if we don't I plan on taking him during regular season. If any of you guys know a youth that would like to hunt take a little time and make it happen, well worth the effort!!!!!! |
RE: Team Beard Busters [5]
Well guys, I went out and did a little more scouting this morning... I suppose I could tell you about it, but I think I'll just let the pictures tell the story for me.

RE: Team Beard Busters [5]
Dan,
Don't tease us like that.:D:D |
RE: Team Beard Busters [5]
Dan, let us know what he scores when the season opens:D
What's the deal with the rusty color on that hen? Kinda cool lookin! Do you guys want me to see if Ryan aller will make us a team avatar? |
RE: Team Beard Busters [5]
The team name is what we called ourselves a couple seasons ago!!! Here is my fathers gobbler from that season.
May be an omen..... ![]() |
RE: Team Beard Busters [5]
Hey do like that color phase Tom you showed!
I have a suggestion! To help Pat Ely with this contest - let's post all our bird scores here on this threadand let our Team Captain take it to the official posting place. Will help save Pat time for sure. Think of it this way 10 or 11 teams all with over a dozen members - very time consuming to keep track of it. In fact I will PM Pat directly as I think this will really help Pat in the long run. So Dan - you up for that. Or as being captain delegate - and I will offer to do this for the team and be officail scribe and report to you. So what you guys and gals think? Will wait to hear from you until I take this forward to Pat. JW......... |
RE: Team Beard Busters [5]
JW that sounds good to me, it is a lot of info too keep up with. Pat will have his hands full chasing birds across 3-4 states so if it's OK with him go for it.
PS:I just read Pat's "bear with me post" seems like this will be the best way to keep score. |
RE: Team Beard Busters [5]
JW,
That sounds like a fantastic idea to me. If you'd like to do it, you can, but I am more than willing to take the responsibility. |
RE: Team Beard Busters [5]
go fer it Dan - You hae trouble there Capt.....I am here to help....
Okay folks we will post our bird scores here for Dan to Record - just make sure you follow the rules.... . JW |
RE: Team Beard Busters [5]
Thought I better get it back on the first page. How are we doing with everyone getting checked in
|
RE: Team Beard Busters [5]
A couple more pictures to tease y'all with;
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This is only about 1/3 of the flock I watched fly to roost last night. I couldn't count how many toms were gobbling. As soon as one would start, they'd all go off. I know I counted at least seven birds with 6-inch or better beards before it was too dark to see. The sunset, well, I just figured y'all might enjoy the view I had. Enjoy. ;):D |
RE: Team Beard Busters [5]
nice pics

Went out yesterday afternoon for a couple hours to shed hunt our property a bit with a friends. Found one shed and another flock of turkeys. RE: Team Beard Busters [5]
Pines,
I will be hunting around the Clintonville area. That is where i grew up. I think it was two years ago my buddy and i went up to the bowler area where we had permission when we were haveing a hard time finding birds where we normally hunt. It was just a bad year i guess, turkeys were not very talkative. Do you live around that area? |
RE: Team Beard Busters [5]
I'd like y'all to welcome SpringSpur to the team. He checked in with me this morning via email. Hopefull we'll see a post from him soon.

RE: Team Beard Busters [5]
I have a long 38 more days before i get to chase old tom. I have been out alittle bit with the bow, still shoots great. I should definately be ready.
|
RE: Team Beard Busters [5]
Springspur checking in. Retired Military, I'll be hunting Sumter County S.C. Mostly Poinsette Electronic Combat Range & Manchester State Forest. I'll try my bow but primary will be Rem 870 with 2.5X scope, hevi-shot choke and # 4 hevi-shot. Drilled & tapped it myself, pretty proud of that. I never liked the saddle mounts, it makes the optics sit too high. I've only killed 3 Turkeys in my life, hopefully I'll get a good one this year for team 5.
|
RE: Team Beard Busters [5]
I have a feeling our whole team is going to end up with some nice birds. Got to think positive.:)
