well i had a question i plan to use 45-50 lb draw weight for turkeys and i wanted some help on picking and setting up like broadheads i shoot magnus stingers 100 gr do you think thyll work ?i used 50 lb dw for deer do you think i should lower to 45?just what other adjustments should i make or is this already an ok setup

Your current setup should be a great choice. I wouldn't change a thing. Generally the only thing I would do differently would be to add a large cutting mech b-head just to inflict maximum damage and a huge cut. I have found that the added shock and trama seems to help put the birds down faster and make recoveries shorter. However, you certainly wouldn't have to change a thing to have a great turkey rig. The Rocket Sledgehammer is simply awesome! A HUGE 3 1/2" cut will stone any bird that comes close enough!

well i have never used a mechanical before but that is some good info i will do a search on how much they run [cost] but they look excellent they even have a 2in more cutting diameter which will give me a better chance it all sounds good i need to see if i can go to sportsman warehoue this coming week so i can go check them out but they seem nice...but my only question is now is that should i drop my draw weight to 45lbs or stay at 50

I can'tdetermine whatyour ideal draw weight should be butmake sure that you can draw your rig smoothly, quietly and comfortably. You'll want to be able to hold your bow a bit longer than one would for a deer generally so take that in mind. IF 50# is comfortable for ya then I would leave it there.

the kid ...... the most important aspect in your archery setup is accuracy and your confidence in your setup. As long as your accurate with your current setup, then you could just stay with it. One thing I would suggest is to add an arrow arrester of some kind to your arrow to stop a complete pass through. I use the Zwicky Scropio and they allow the head to completely pass through, but the arrow stays in the bird. This sliding arrestor which I use will end p putting all of the KE into that bird (actually pushing the bird sideways on contact) with only the hunting head doing the damage.

Thanks bud. This Trykon is an outstanding bow rig for the Turkey blind. Mine is set at 65#, fast and quiet, it doesn't get much better. That being said though, I always look forward to following the latest bow rigs somy Trykprobably won't get to make it to the Turkey blind this Spring. If you're interested,... I'm seeling the 28" 60-70# Trykon for $550 fully rigged with all the Trophy Ridge accessories including the TR Ridge Hunter quiver not pictured.

I generally use either the Rocket Slammerhead 90 (1 3/4" cut)with the straight blade tips for shooting through Double Bull mesh and Iuse the Rocket Hammerhead 100 (2" cut) when shooting through open blind windows and regular bowhunting situations. Both are awesome b-heads that totally smash 'em and generally make the "tracking" just a simple task of walking up to your downed Tom! You can also count on both of these exceptional b-headsgiving youFULL size entry and exit holes. Very dependable and thus very impressive. You should seriously try 'em.

thanks grumpytom ive heard that same thing from several people now but i just dont know what yall are talkin about...can u plz send me a link on what that stopper thing looks like or how much it cost ? i get the idea that when you shoot the bird with just a broadhead it will go through him and he will have a chance to run away or fly away and it might be harder to find him...but when you have that thing on the arrow wont get a complete pass through and will keep the bird from getting away....and for u when you get abird comin towards you how far would you shoot at him and whats your comfort range?and also i have been practicing and i think i have a really good shot up to 20 yds...30 they all might be within a paper plate with about 6 arrows.....i just wanted to know how long do you think you should be able to hold the bow comfortbly before bowhunting for turkeys also i think i can hold it for about 3 min @ 50lbs..well sorry for all the questions its just that im really excited and this is my first year really getting serious about this stuff:D...iwas supposed to go this coming weekend to go throw some feed out and scout abit..well thanks alot

As for shooting, I prefer a broadside shot (base of the wing) or a shot where they are walking away (non strut) and take them in the ccenter of the back. A head on shot is tough beause of their eyesite and their ability to see your movement in taking the shot, I prefer to have them looking in another dirrection.
