Are there any publicplaces to hunt them in florida? What is my percentage rate of actually being able to find one.

There are several places here in central florida, where you do not have to draw a permit and have a great chance of killing a "true" osceola. If I was from out of state, I would pick Green Swamp WMA first. You can look at all the information of these places on Floridas website. Green Swamp WMA has daily permits available on a first come, first serve basis. You can camp there, the weather will be great (cool), there are a lot of birds, it's a big WMA,and not too many hunters during the week. Your best chance to kill one would be right after fly down or coming back to that general area about 10:30-11. The birds seem to be broke off the hens by then and will respond to calling a lot better than in the am. By responding, i mean come to you. Plus a lot of hunters tend to stop hunting about 9:30-10.
Some other areas that are good would be Kissimmee River (need a john boat), and Arbuckle (get there early for permits)
Hope this helps....

Huntnma's correct, bullcreek is good too, but it all depends on water. If there's little or non, there are not too many birds taken, but when there's water, it's pretty good if you can get in..
