What time of day are most of your birds shot? I would say that mine are split 50/50 between morning and afternoon.

I have three that are at the crack of dawn (shot these three in one shot). I have one literally at the last minute of daylight (this is my biggest one: 1.625" spurs and two beards). And I have one in the middle of the afternoon. I would have to say that I see more birds early, early morning and late evening...

They gobble better in the morning, but most of my success is done between 9-12 . So mid-morning seems to work best for me. last year I killed a 26 and a 24lb birds. Both birds were harvested after 10 am

Biologists have found that the best time is 10 - 12 in the morning this is because the toms ussually have left the hens and are looking for some loving. This is because hens leave the tom at this time of day and they go feed by them selves.

They also leave the tom's to sit on their nest during the mid-morning.

My experience is7 of my longbeards were taken after 9:30 in the morn.
2 were taken minutes after they flew off the roost straight to my decoys (kinda easy hunts)
1 was in the evening. I only hunt the evening those last couple days of the season if I haven't gotten my limit yet due to all the action that goes on in those morning hunts.

In NY we can only hunt until noon. I have killed birds in that whole time frame but my favorite is between 10a-12 noon. I usually try a gobbler I located on the roost later if he can't be coaxed in right after fly down. In the past 2 years I have been working hot birds that have come in from way off that i couldn't keep after because the watch had struck the noon hour. Would love to hunt later in the day, but we can't here.

never really had too much luck later in the day. then again in the past i havent been so patient. my 2 spring birds were killed at fly down and i think 805am. the latest dad killed one was 10something. just got lucky and caught a hot bird. the last 2 seasons i been working on patience and ive been finding birds later in the day. but i can never wait long enough for them to loose hens. im always chasin or lookin for the gobbling bird. this year i really wanna work on patience. i can sit in a deer stand all day long...i can surely make it till noon turkey hunting..just always liked the ones that gobbled...if i wait in one spot im sure they will come back lookin for me...

Lastyear i shot my bird at 2:00. But i found out that they dont gobble much at all during that time period.

Early in the morning for me. I can't hunt past 1 in RI. Only called a couple of birds in later in the morning.

All times of the day, usually if your setup is right you get him first thing in the morning. If hens or other things intervene, mid morning. Late in the season the last few years I have had some awesome action and kills around noon. Not much was going on early. These were some boss toms also.
