RE: Biggest Bird

ORIGINAL: turkey harvester

Last year was my biggest bird. He weighed 27.5 pounds and had a 11 inch beard. The spurs were over an inch long. he was one of the smaller birds killed that day in southeast missouri. The biggest killed that day was 29 pounds. We were hunting a 4000 acre cattle ranch in West Plains.
You weren't hunting the Pearson Ranch were you?

You might say - just a little slice of Tennessee comfort - Everyone has their honey hole!

My best was a 24lb 1 1/8in spurs and a triple bearder. 10.5, 7.5 and about a 3in beard. My only multi beard yet to date.

They are all "best" to me...
Up this way, any bird 20+ lbs is a really good bird.
My heaviest was 21 that I took last year.
That is the only bird I have ever taken over 20lb. several 17,18,19 lbers...

I did shoot a 18lb bird a couple of years ago in CT that had 1&1/2" spurs though.

My wife's uncle has killed lots of turkey's over the past 35 years or so (at least 1 or 2 per year) and has never gotten one 20 +.
