Cadence has a lot to do with it too, Mauser. Cluck, purrrrr, scratch, scratch, yelp, yelp, yelp is a lot different than cluck, cluck, cluck, cluck. I've played with hens when I knew no gobblers were with them and their heads will definitely come up with too many clucks in a row and at too fast a cadence. But, I've kept them feeding around me all afternoon with the first sequence.
