Federal flight control
Anyone use the Federal shells w/the flight control wad. Does the wad make it through a tight choke ? Have you noticed tighter patterns?

RE: Federal flight control
Yes. I have a .695 Ulti-Full Choke on my 835 and they pattern much tighter in my experience with them. I use the #5's. Great load.

RE: Federal flight control
I use them in my 870 super mag with a "Jelly Head " choke and get my best patterns with it.Ius #5 shot but this year I'm going to try the hevi-weight w/flight control.

RE: Federal flight control
I had better patterns from the old regular federal shells out of my 870. One word of caution you may want to try a more open choke. A regular full choke gave me a better pattern with them than an extra full did.

RE: Federal flight control
Flight control shells are a definite necessity to your turkey arsenal. In the beginning of last season I used the Heavyweight # 7's and after shooting a box of them I went to the heavyweight # 6's through my browning gold, I got an amazingly tight group. I've shot the extended by Winchester and the remington heavyweight and by far Federal was my number one shell with 75 + pellets in head area at 40 yards. I'm using the choke that came with my browning gold NWTF 12 ga. Hope this helps.[/align]

RE: Federal flight control
Thanks for the info, I'll have to pattern the standard full choke against the x-full. I suspest the x-full may hamper the flight control wad from smoothly leaving the barrel.

RE: Federal flight control
It will vary by gun. I'm getting great pattern's with the Fed. FC with #5 shot out of my.655 CNC in my stoeger.

RE: Federal flight control
I've understood they shoot well out of a regular set full choke barrel. I have not heard of good patterns that come from a choked gun at all...

RE: Federal flight control
I'll pattern them with both chokes and see. Thanks!
