What is needed to turkey hunt? I have a lightweight advantage timber coat and a 12ga. shotgun. What else would I need? Thank you

Get yourself a camo face mask too if you dont have one. You'd also need some calls to. Make sure you have a tight pattern on your shotgun too.

calls and practice alot. possibly a decoy, not necessary tho. head to toe camo covering EVERYTHING except eyes. turkey shells/choke combination that shoots tight patterns. need to know yur gun. it can be as simple as you want or as complicated. depends on how much time/money you have to put into this.

I'd pick up a box call and a pot type call and either download some audio files of the different hen vocalizations or get a cd that you can practice along with. I think for a beginner, knight and hale's ol yeller is a great pot type call. Its easy to use and sounds great. Sometimes it really drives the turkeys nuts. But in turkey hunting, what may drive them crazy today might not get any response tomorrow so its best to have a few different calls. Those birds can drive you nuts. The best teacher is experience, which you can never get enough of.

I agree with what has been said. But make sure you have a turkey choke for your shotgun. Pattern it and find the right loads for your shotgun. Dont just pattern it at 20 yards. Know your gun. Then practice your calls. I practice everyday. When the season is here make sure you have some patience. Wait cause sometimes it takes hours to call a turkey in shooting range. Dont ever give up. OH how I love turkey hunting.
