daleh,

Normally their winter grounds are different than spring. You will see largeflocks until they break up into breeding groups in the spring.

I saw another bunch today (15-20birds) hanging around a chuffa plot about 5 miles from were i saw the big group the day before.
This Time it was in the morning do they travel that far or is this a different group all together.
I know that there is several chuffa plots in between the 2 places

Turkey in a tree is that better than a turkey in the bush
Planted wheat for the spring turkeys on the edge of a couple of fields that will eventaly go to quail habitat

Thank is for sure. The temperature now is idenitcal to the temperature in early spring and it is driving me crazy. Thinking about those big toms out strutting has already costs me hours of sleep at night.

Dale your not going to see major range shifts on the Pee Dee. The ground you will be hunting is some of the primest wild turkey hunting in the state. Your going to see the birds roosting along the river and still water sloughs and swamps adjacent to these fields logging decks and other strutting areas. Small pines near water are a big nesting draw. Getitng out a daybreak and listening will clue you in real quick where the hunt is going to be. As well in the afternon look for struttrers on your ag field log decks ect. the bird will ultimately roost with water under their feet so if you see them in the late afternoon you know they are roosting over the nearest water source.

If you need some help figuring them out, I have a few folks that would give their left nut to get on that place to hunt. LOL Unfortunately i just finished filling my schedule and the only SC turkey hunting i will do this season will be guiding in the low country.I will be headed to texas April 1 then onto OK then to Nebaraska then to Idaho and finish my spring activity with a Bear Hunt in Maine. See ya in June. Call Dusty if you need guide help or just want someone to help you go out and get on a bird.
