Roost ?
 

I found where a group of about 30-35 birds were roosted during an earlier Bow(deer) hunt, and was wondering if the birds use the same roost year after year, or move from roost to roost....

From what I have experienced in my area, there are always birds in the same group of trees, but they aren't usually in the same exact tree. What I would do is go out and scout a week or two before the spring season or whenever you are going out and locate where they are roosting. Then, setup near that tree. Try to get within a hundred yards, but be absolutely sure not to spook them off of the roost. A friend and I were able to get within about 40 yards of this one gobbler...se could have shot him out of the tree (we didn't). Just get out there long before the sun comes up!

allot of factors come into play here, time of year,food sources, hunting pressure, I hunt mainly merriams i have found they use the same roost sites year after year.I would advise scouting and patterning these birds a couple weeks before the spring opener.

While deer hunting these turkeys were in the same group of trees every morning.

Remember there are spring feeding areas and winter feeding areas. They will move according to the season. So they maybe there in deer season but moved during the spring season. Some may not agree but Ive seen this happen time after time each year.

arrowmaster, i see that every spring birds will move from there winter flocks and feeding areas about 1-2 weeks before the season opens.they will move 10-15 miles sometimes when they break up
