Which ammo & choke do you turkey hunt with?
 

Ok guys. Since fedral changed thier shells my kill ratio has gone down. Time to do something diifferent. So here's my question. Idon't really wantto go buy several different boxes of shells to test loads to. Thats going to be expensive. Plus I don't want to end up with a bunch of shells that's not going to do me any good, except sit around and collect dust! Is there anyway to get my hands on some differenent types of shells? Or should I just bite the bullet and purchase several boxes and do some testing. Or maybe change to a different choke tube?

The problem is, like women, shotguns are fickle and choosy. What mines likes, yours may not. There are really only three good ways to go about this:

1) The Buddy Method - team up with some of your friends who are in the same situation as you. Helps to loiter around the gunshop for an afternoon a week or two before the season. Everyone buys a box of different stuff and you all split the boxes. Two each, Five Each, whatever works it out.

2) Lucky Method - You buy one box, pattern it, and hope it works. If it will do it everytime at 40, I'd for sure call it good enough. But you never know if that magic load is just the next shelf down...

3) All-In Method - Buy 'em all, and shoot 'em all. The results speak for themselves.

Well to me theres only one shell,and ive been shootin them since they came out,win,supremes 3 and half inch 4 shot ,,with a 24in barreled benelli pump and a scope,with a under taker choke or jellyhead by primos,,I shot 5 birds this year with the new exstended range win 4 shot,it did just as good or better ,they died just the same.

I use the jellyhead also. It along with Rem. hevi shotmagnum 3 1/2 inch 5 shotdoes great for me. Of course Remington will no longer make hevi shot. I bought several boxes last year, so I will be using them for a while. Hevi 13's just don't do as well for me as the Rem.'s do.

I've been getting very good results with the Winchester Supremes, 3", either #4 or 6's, with the Undertaker tube. I've gotten absolutelyexceptional patterns with the Win X-range, same choke.
