I usually check them in and weigh them before doing the deed. I don't mind field dressing all types of game but the turkey is one of my least favorite.[:@]

i may be weird in doing this, but ive grown up learning to just pull the skin back from the breast...fillet the two breast slabs off the bone and then cut out the drumsticks....no gutting neccesary and it takes like 5 minutes tops

I do this as well...it just depends on how much work I want to do.

I just breast my birds out, no field dressing

That's what I ended up doing with my bird today; I breasted them and took the thighs.

Thanks for the input!

RE: Field dressing?

We have to check them in, can only fill1 tag a day, and breasting them out is illegal (can't waste game meat). So to answer your question no, I take it into town to be recorded and weighed, then clean it when I get back to the farm.
