How about some spring tactics

So, all the talk about Fall tactics, anyone have any good tactics for the spring? Since I missed applying for this fall, I will be hunting for the first time next spring, and I will need all of the advice I can get.

Learn to be patient. Thats one of my tactics. I also like to be aggressive, but ya cant be that way all the time. I love getting a hen fired up as well...

Locate some gobblers before the season starts. Sneak in quitely getset up with a big tree to your backand wait till they hit the ground before you make any calls. Wear total camo, Do not move, and be patient...

listen to your gut....don't be afraid to move .....don't overcall......scout scout and scout some more...GO TO THE GOBBLE......get as close as you can to that gobble, i used to sit , listen to the gobble and pray it could hear my call and come in and it's worked before, but you have to close that gap...and i'm a firm believer that once you sit and get settled, right before flydown, do a soft tree yelp, i want them to hear me first....

Nope ! wait untill spring ................;)

Scouting areas well before the season opener is a good idea. By scouting I mean travel roads around areas you intend to hunt in the spring and find where the birds are feeding and moving. Get in and ask permission for some new lands, then travel these areas before the season oper and find what you need to know about them. Hollows, creeks. ridges, roosting sites, feeding areas, setup areas and places that may hangup birds. The best way to know if you have the place scouted properly is if I ask you from a point what is 150 yards away in any direction , you can tell me whats between us and that location, then you have the place scouted...BT
