NEED YOUR OPINION?
well here goes i have a mossberg model 500
it has the xxfull 670 choke on it. in the book it say's too shoot #6's out of it but i have tried #4 #5 #6. with the #4's @ 30 yard's i put only 21 pellet's in the target. with the #5's i put only 10 pellet's in the neck. but with the #6's @ 30 yard's i put only 3 pellet's in the neck. what shot should i use. i like the 4's but last year i missed 3 bird's using the #4's.i only got one bird last year i shot it with the #6's. thank you for your opinion. WELL COOCH
I HAVE TRIED IT AT 40 YARD'S AND IT ONLY PUT'S ABOUT 12 PELLET'S IN THE NECK ON THE TARGET. THE #5'S ONLY PUT'S ABOUT 6 PELLET'S IN THE NECK OF THE TARGET. THE #6'S PUT ONLY 1 PELLET IN THE NECK. RE: NEED YOUR OPINION?
12 in the neck not to bad have you tried to tone down or beef up your sheels. if your using high vel. go to regular vel. 2 oz. of shot vs.1 3/4 even 2 3/4 sheels try Rem. 4x6's they work well for me and some of the others on the board

RE: NEED YOUR OPINION?
Guns are like woman, they are all different.First of all every shell (brand) will shoot different in every gun.Are you shooting 3 in. or 3 1/2 Don't shoot just one shell shoot 3 or 4 Sometimes you just don't make a good shot.Take a average of at least 3 shots. Shoot a different brand. It will make sense when you see what happens.Take a piece of cardboard at least 3 feet wide.Shoot at 30 to 35 yards see where the gun is shooting. Is it high or low maybe it will be left or right.I have seen guns shoot 6 to 8 inch high or low.You have to know where the gun is shooting.Take a look at the pattern.Check to see the density of the shot. After you shoot you will know what to use.Spend the time to see what patterns the best.Try all the brands. you will be surprised how much they differ.Don't go and shoot a target with a turkey on it untill you know how your gun shoots, and patterns. RE: NEED YOUR OPINION?
Redneck, gotta go with the percentages and shoot the 4's if this combo is what your set on shooting. If not try another choke combo. When my dad bought his utimag we purchased an extra full choke tube for it,and it turned out to be horrible. We went back to shooting just a regular full choke and not only did the pattern density thicken but the flyers were about eliminated.Whatever you shoot do it with confidence my friend or you will do exactly what BB is talkin about in lifting your cheek off your stock.Hope you find what your lookin for! :)

RE: NEED YOUR OPINION?
Get another choke - experiment with things - shell shot - different chokes - that gun should pattern better at 30 - Remember, be confident in your guns performance - it will put more meat on the table!!!

RE: NEED YOUR OPINION?
i shoot 4's myself, my gun will put 15 pellets in the hesd and neck at 50 yards. judging by what you said about 12 pellets in the head and neck with 4's a 40 yards compared with 6 and 1 pellets from the other 2 subordernates. it's a no brainer i would definately stay with the 4's. you may want to get you a 2 piece tru glow sight put on your gun. it will keep you from shooting over your target just a thought.
