Copper/Lead
 

I have a new choke tube for my 12 ga. It specifies that I shoot only lead through it. Is copper coated ok for this choke tube? And does it mean anything but steel shot?

You didn't specify which make of tube it is, but the copper coated lead is fine. The copper coating isn't thick enough to come anywhere close to the hardness of steel shot, which is what the tube manufacturer DOESN'T want you to shoot through it.

Hevi-Shot is OK
Tungsten/polymer is OK
Tungsten/iron is NOT OK
Bismuth is OK

copper coated lead is fine.in my opinion you bought one of the best chokes made. i have one buddy that shot a gobbler at 20 yards with his 870 and almost took the head clean off!
