It's official, I am hooked!
My first bird came at 8:30 this morning in WV. I have a friend who is experience with turkey hunting, and he called him in. I set up 40 yards in front of him. I had a 25 yard shot, and the Remington Heavy shot performed great! He had a 9" beard, 1" Spurs, and weighed 20lbs.
Couldn't ask for a better morning, we also found a bunch of morels!
Dinner will taste great.

Well...you're tore up now. There won't be another season where you sit out. The girlfriend/wife will hate you for it.
Congrats on a great first bird! Good pics too.

hey great bird!!!!!! we had about the same story this morning as well. me and a hunting buddy teamed up and he shot his first spring bird this morning !!!!!!!! great hunt gobbled good on this roast. it was foggy and it toke awhile for the birds to hit the ground. there were two birds gobbling there heads off but wouldnt come in in!!! hung up about 150 yards or so. so i tried be quit for awhile and they semed to move away a little!!!!! so i let them have it called very loud and often and these birds loved it!!! double gobbled and sometimes triple gobbled .. 10 mins after starting to call loud we had a bird on the ground!!!!!! after working them for 2 1/2 hour!!
