What left this track?
Appreciate any help. Got my own ideas, but would appreciate yours. In Virginia, but don't let that rule anything out. Thanks

RE: What left this track?
looks like a canine of some sort...notice the claw marks...it if were a cat of some sort the claws most likely would have been retracted....probably a dog or coyote....big coyote if it was.

RE: What left this track?
coyotes paw print is more pointed than the print in picture
|
RE: What left this track?
I don't know maybe a bear. What do you think it is? That is one big coyote if that is what it is.
|
RE: What left this track?
I was thinking skunk but the track seems too deep, I'm thinking maybe bear based on depth of track, or one big coyote, but honestly I am kinda stumped.

ORIGINAL: Washington Hunter Large domestic dog. Lab, German Shepard, etc... |
RE: What left this track?
Dog tracks, maybe coyote. As you can tell there is 2 tracks in the pic,one below the other. My guess is the animal was running.
Not bear tracks, they areto narrow and long, unless it is one of those real small virginia bears;) Bear tracks tend to be more rounded. Bears also have 5 toes and claws, pic is only showing 4 which is a definate giveaway for amember of the dog family. |
RE: What left this track?
My front yard is peppered with tracks that look like that and I have a Great Dane for family pet...
|
RE: What left this track?
Bear??? they dont look like that in my area??? Just kidding. :D
It is a track from a 3.5 year old yellow lab named Drake. He walks with a slight limp because of a injury he got as a puppy. He was west bound on the tracks of his owner, a 35 year old women who enjoys long walks on the beach and getting caught in the rain. Could it be a wolf, about the same size. I know I see more and more wolf tracks every year. |
RE: What left this track?
i would say a large dog.if it were a cat track you wouldn't be able to see the claws
|
RE: What left this track?
Looks like a dog to me. No way that's a bear...
|
RE: What left this track?
Another vote for a large domestic dog.
|
RE: What left this track?
got any couger around the way the back legs meet up with the front that is how those cats run.
|
RE: What left this track?
![]() TheFelines have a space between the toes and the palm pad forms a curved ridge, which sometimes called a linked ridge. Canines do not have this feature. They have a diamond or pyramid shape in this area of the track. ;)it's a dog:D |
RE: What left this track?
thanks huntnma i learned something
|
RE: What left this track?
Do you have badgers in virginia? They have very large paws
|
RE: What left this track?
Well,
I'm guessing your hand is approximately 7 inches from the tip of your middle fingerto the base of your palm (average caucasian male). That makes that front track ~3.5 inches. Definitely a dog, not only by shape, but also by pattern (hind is smalleri and inside the front). Could easily be a coyote, especially a female carrying an extra 40 pounds of pups, because that track appears sunken quite deep. RE: What left this track?
looks like a dog of some sort to me....my black lab is about ninety pounds and if i didnt know any better...i'd say he was trekin your neck of the woods...;)
