Default Got my first turkey!

Have turkey hunted a few years at my club and have always seen birds, just never within range. At 6:15am had 2 gobblers just out of range. I kept seein birds all day long on the hill behind me, and I decided to re-locate. Found a spot along the stone wall on the hill, behind a bush and sat down around 8am. I was there no longer than 40 minutes when I heard a gobbler. I called back a few times and had 4 hens runnning down the hill, followed by a jake, and then this big boy was behind all of them. I shot him while he was running at about 20 yards. Too bad when i shot, I must have clipped the beard because there was not much left when i got to him. Got my brid at 8:45am, then went to the cabin to eat my lunch .

O yeah, almost forgot. He was about a 3 year old bird. 20 lbs and 4 oz.
8 inch beard and 1 inch spurs. And boy he was a fighter, had a bunch of ruffed up and missing feathers.

Congrats!!!

Nothing like getting the first one. It should get easier now that the pressure is off.

Congratulations! I'll be going the last weekend of April for my second season hunting Turkey myself. Hopefully, I'll get my first.

Right on!

Nice pic as well. I love the "just another day in the turkey woods" look you have on your face.

Great shot it sounds like as well.
