RE: Aiming Point
Don't shoot at the body. You are going to lose that turkey more than likely. A turkey is a big tough bird, so only head and neck shots should be taken. About the videos, most people want to see action. They don't want to see what usually really happens when turkey hunting. It's all about the money. If you watch these videos they call way too much. Most of them are staged anyway, but they are entertaining enough that most people will buy them. I enjoy watching some of them, but I am not about to use some of the techniques they use. At least most of the turkey hunting videos aren't as rediculous as most deer hunting videos. Back to the shot. I like to aim at the middle of the neck, just below the head. That's one dead turkey.

RE: Aiming Point
When aimming at a Gobbler Terry , always keep the range in mind as a factor of your shot. If the bird is 25 yards or less then aim for the Waddles of the bird. If the bird is at your max distance then aim at the eye of the bird.
A shot gun will always shoot higher at a close range target. I have seen hunters shoot right over a close range bird aimming at the head...BT |
