I basically can hear a tom spit and drum at no farther than 30 yards. Then it has to be a calm day.

I have heard them drumat times, depending on the wind direction. I would imagine that "up wind" the sound would carry much farther than being down wind. I have also, on still mornings, heard them drum from approx. 100 yards away as well.;)

I have yet to hear a Gobbler Spit and Drum:( But I have lost some of my hearing from shooting:(
