If you see them at 8 or 8:30 the gobbler may come back at 11, 12, 1, 2... get the idea. He may or may not come back your way. Personally I would move on him. Try to get in front of him but make sure you don't spook him. If this doesn't work go eat lunch or take a nap and come back about 3 or 4:00. Afternoons can be great. There is a good chance he will be fairly close. I killed one of my birds this year at 4:00 and another at 5:15. They may be out looking for a lonesome hen at this time a day. I love hunting in the afternoon. Both of those birds were killed less than 30 minutes after setting up. I'm not real patient myself, so I like to move a little in the morning, but I stay put in the afternoon. I love hunting the morning also, but I have killed almost as many in the afternoon. You still have to have patience though to be a successful turkey hunter. You will here much more gobbling in the morning than in the afternoon though, but you can still make them gobble in the afternoon.

RE: patience

some folks would sit and wait'em out...all day if necessary...others would slip out of the area and go find another bird...i do the latter...when i scout i make sure i have at least three groups (if not more)of turkeys with gobblers in all of them...it's tough to pull toms away from the real hens and almost just as tough to call to the hens, to bring them in (the toms will follow)...but patience is something ya gotta work for...try this...check your watch (say if it's eight-thirty) tell yourself 'i'm outa here in fifteen minutes...after that fifteen minutes?....check your watch again...tell yourself again...'i'm outa here in fifteen minutes....see what i'm getting at?...by then you've sat another half hour..
