Henned up in SC?
whats up guys
well i went hunting saturday in the pacolet area, and it was some new land. it was my second turkey hunt ever. i went last week and got a 21 pound gobbler with a 10 inch beard and 1 and 1\2 inch spurs by 6 45 am and this time we didnt have that luck. we heard the birds gobbling and they answered our calls.....they just werent coming. it was so frustrating. we prolly heard about 15 gobbles that day but nothing. my guess is they were henned up. it started raining pretty hard during the day and we sat in the open field theres a LONG stretch over clear land where the power lines run through the woods and we set up on the edge of those in hopes they birds would come out during the rain but it didnt happen. is that a myth or is it fact? that birds go to the open fields when it rains? but latter in the afternoon we saw some hens and a gobbler in the field across the river but there was no way we could get across the river. one good thing i think? is that the land is very very swampy. is this a good thing? and would birds most likely roost near that open field or in the swamps? any help is appreciated. Thanks |
RE: Henned up in SC?
the rain thing i have figured outyet myself .but for the swamp they rather roost over water than anythings its safer for them .
