Any tips?
This will be my second year turkey hunting. I have 2 decoys, 3 mouth calls, one box call, and one slate call, camo and a 12ga with 3in 2oz loads. Is there anything else i should know or buy before the Youth turkey hunt (for once its good to be a young hunter!!) that starts the 22nd. I know i have tobe as still as possible and make very little noise.
If i get a turkey ill be sure to put a picture on here, so i can brag about it:) |
RE: Any tips?
I would say if you have patterned gun, then you need nothing else, just some luck and some Toms! [8D]Can't buy that though! [8D]

get you some camo net gloves, and a camo net hood, turkeys have awesome eye sight. zero movement, when he's in close, he'll walkright up to ya.good luck.

Seems like you have everything you need. One thing I always seem to forget is patiences on the first couple of days. Good luck

RE: Any tips?
One thing not to be overemphasized from another rookie turkey hunter: If you hear one gobble and go to set up on him, don't get too close. Also, it is hard to tell how far one is away when gobbling. He could be facing away from you and sound farther away. I once walked right underneath a gobbler, figuring it was much farther away than it really was. I would think it best to be conservative on approach...

Patience thats all I would say you need...

RE: Any tips?
Do not overcall especially early on. If you're going to sit in one place, and you get a Tom to answer...don't get anxious and start walking around....he'll know you're there.
