RE: Favorite Turkey Loads

Let's see. I have killed birds with Remington Premium Magnum, Remington's version of Hevi shot, Hevi 13, Winchester High Velocity, and Federal's Premium shells with and without the flite control wad. Those are the ones I remember, I am sure there are others.

In the last few days I also patterned Winchester's Extended Range supreme elite. It performed very well. I like the fact that a guy doesn't have to worry about being overchoked with it to the point of hurting your firearm.

Through two of my guns the Flite control wad does infact make a difference even with a ported choke.

In all honesty I could shoot either the Winchester product or the Federal product with the flite control wadand not feel "undergunned" so to speak. For whats it worth, in my guns I have noted for some time that a smaller payload (1 1/2 - 1 3/4 oz.) patterned as well or better than a two ounce load.

Lastly, I can't speak for the Nitro version of Hevi shot because I have never used it. I'm sure I will draw some fire for this statement, but the gap in performance (out of my guns at least), betweentheRemington version of Hevi shotand Hevi 13, versus quality lead loads is not big enough in my opinion to justify the cost.

Hevi 13 3" #6's....out of my Browning Gold with Kicks Gobbling thunder choke at .680 constrictionI can get 31 pellets in the head and neck of a Primos turkey target at 50 yards. Not that I would shoot one that far, but I like to see what it can do.....I like it, I like it alllot.
