Day #5.
He did it again, I set up this morning in the dark, I heard a sound to my right, thought maybe it was a turkey but still dark. As it broke day I could see a turkey in a tree to my right, about 40 yds. A little after 6 a.m. he gobbled then again, he started moving on the limb. I knew he could see me, but I really wasn't sure if he was a gobbler, thought he could be a hen and the gobbler on the other side of the tree or in another tree. Anyway, he flew down going away from me and I couldn't see him for the palmettos. He started gobbling and made about 5 going away fast, never heard another word.
I can honestly say, I have never had one whoop me like this and to make matters worse, I can't quit trying to get him. I'm thinking about going back and set up about 4 this afternoon, maybe I can catch him coming to the other end of the ridge to roost. I know I should move on to another, but this has me strung out, kind of like a vindetta now. It's good to see others or taking birds, I know how they feel. dog1 |
