Opening day was Saturday for Ga.Friday night after making sure my alarm clock was seti went to bed and woke up at 6:15 the next morning with the sun shining brightly thru the window. I didn't turn the clock on.What a moron. In my defense though i was distracted the night beforeby a screaming baby and an equally pissed off wife. Off to the woods anyway, didn't go where I had planned because of the time.Pure luck, I hear a bird a way off where I haven't heard one in a couple of years. I set up and start calling and a jake comes sneaking in after about ten minutes. I let him pass. That tom I heard is closing the distance and he is fired up! As fast as this bird is moving and as much as he gobbling, this ought to be a breeze. All of a sudden he is there, along with about six hens. I can see the hens, maybe 20yds in frontof me, but he stays ought of sight behind some brush and he won't quit gobbling. I cutt once and he gobbled for thirty seconds straight. It got to be funny after a few minutes. This old boy just wouldn't quit. This went on for about ten minutes and finally the hens walked off takingold tomwith them. He was still hammering back at anything I gave him. It was a blast even tho I didn't bring it home.
