Roosting turkeys,

Last nite I watched about 30 birds go up into the roost, they all chose the taller, bigger trees in this treeline next to a field. The smaller trees were no little one's by all means, 30 to 40 footers. But the birds all chose these 50 footers or higher, When you guys watch birds go up in the roost, are they choosing the taller ones also? If so, then I'm wondering if it's an instinct of theirs. Anyway, I can use this to key onto the taller trees during hunting season. thanks.

Yeah I think they tend to like the bigger trees. Although I have watched turkeys walk by big trees and roost in trees on limbs no bigger around than a couple inches. But most of thetime it is the bigger stuff.
