StrutnBPS,I was wondering what you considered a cold spell in S.C.It has been in the 30's here all week and we still have 16" of snow on the ground.
I bought a box of 3" Win XR.It patterned better than the Rem Hevi in 3 1/2",and about the same as Win Hv in # 1/2".

Well like I stated, last week it was 70+ here. This week, it hit a little cold snap and got back down to 30s at night and 58-60 as a high.
By next thursday its supposed to be back up to 75-80 range.

I remember that back when I was a kid and my folks wouldchop off the heads of the chickens when we did our annual"chicken processing", the headless chickenswould flop all over the place. My experience with Heavyweight shellsmay be silly, and may not "prove" a thing. That's why I called it anecdotal evidence. It just has to do with one person's experience, and is not "scientific proof", at all. I have no doubt that the combination--gun, shell, components, barrel, choke, target accuracy and probably even the angle of the bird at impact all contributed to my experience. I guess my vote for Heavyweight is best seen as an expression of my personal confidence in the shell and its ability to succeed in my gun!! It was made as a counterpoint to the claims of superstrutter that guys he knew weren't happy with the shell. (Which was, as I observed, anecdotal evidence, too!!!)
I don't want to start anything here and I may not know what the hell I am talking about but to say that one shell is better than another because the turkeys that were killed didn't "flop" after the shot to me is a little silly. I have always thought that "the flop" occurred randomly regardless of how hard you hit them. I have destroyed turkeys heads at 15 yards and they still flopped.
