Turkey sign, and a little test/help for new hunters
:D It wasn't that long ago for me when I started turkey hunting. Most of what I've learned about turkey hunting, (other than what I've learned in the feild, or from my family), I learned here. So, to give a little back, here's a picture test and information for anyone new to turkey hunting and was looking for a little help.
Here are some droppings from turkeys. Can you tell from which bird? Bird #1 Bird#2 One of them came from the bird that made this track. |

Middle toe isn't long enough to be a gobbler - that's the key to differentiating it from a hen. The other two toes on a gobbler track typically are "splayed" out more to the side. You occasionally see the "dew claw - back toe" on a gobbler track, especially in the mud, because he is heavier than a hen.

Looks like secal dropping in number one. Number two's a hen.
If that middle toe is as long as my middle finger, then its a tom. Hal |
