Question about Texas public land...

I have been looking at Texas' public land on the Tpwd site, and it seems that all public land is draw hunt only.Is that right?I hope I'm wrong.I am curious if there is public land...like ours where you just buy your liscense, and go sign in and hunt. They don't have very many permits available on those draw hunts. We have quota hunts, and have regular access too.Any help is greatly appreciated!

texas is loaded with public lands. some require what is known as a type 2 permit . others are the sabine national forest, davy crocket nf,and lots more. in my area alone there is brobly over half a million acres of public lands. just type in texas national forests and it will take you right to them. also type in type 2 hunting lands. this will pull up some items for you.

They are not draw hunts in the national forests. However its easterns not rios in east texas and you have to use a shotgun on easterns. No bow hunting. I pay $350 to hunt rios for 3 days up near the Red River and can use ML, bow, shotgun, or even a rifle if I choose to. It all depends on what county you hunt in.

I recommend coming to arkansas. We have acres and acres of public land. And the camp im in is 9000 acres. If you wanted i could take you on a hunt with me. Also the turkeys here are a great size and there are a lot of them.
