Anyone tried Hunter's Specialties Vita-Rack Beard Builder feed supplement.

Thats kinda interesting. The beard is just a specialized kind of feather. I'm not into raising birds, but it seems that special food to make birds grow feathers bigger is probably meant to line somebody's pockets...

i read before that turkey beards actually grow quite fast and grow 3-4(maybe more i forget) inches a year and i dont think they quit growing...when they feed ect they drag on the ground ect and wear off....thats why most birds only carry 10-12 inches max usually...there are exceptiong.....i think the record is like 18 inches for 1 beard...imagine that rope! lol.....

You're supposed to floss with the beard AFTER you finish eating the white meat :D

If the beard gets worn down by dragging on the ground, then you would think that you'd want to get turkeys with longer legs to get longer beards. Do they make a "Leg-builder" formula?:)

RE: Beard Builder

I don't think this product actually grows longer beards, it just helps turkeys to avoid nutritional stress which does cause beards to become brittle and break. This is especially true in areas where snowfall or lack of food during winter months makes it tough for turkeys to have a plentiful and healthy food supply. The name is just a catch phrase. My .02 from what I learned from a biologist.
