I have let a lot of jakes walk over the years, but not all of them. Just depends on the circumstance:
Spring jakes generally get a pass from me and I'll hope to meet up with them again infuture years;unused tags aren't an issue with me.WhenI have a farmer/landowner that I want to provide a turkey treat, a spring jake sure fits the bill (we don't call them"tasty jakes" for nothing!).I let my partner(s) make their own decisions - unlessI'm withsomeone who's after their first turkey, thenwatch out jake!
Ditto to the earlier posts, fall jakes are fair game forme too.

id shoot a jake, only if i knew that there wasnt a chance of getting a long beard, or if it was the last bird of the day.

Man, are we gonna have QTM now as well? Sheesh.....anyway, I am a firm believer in shooting tomorrow's trophys today. I couldn't care less about trophy hunting. If it's a legal male bird (bearded hens are legal, but I won't shoot them) I'm playin some string music!

Have to agree, if it comes to the call, i will shoot, if there happens to be a Tom I will attempt to get it, but if it means a filled tag and meat in freezer, bang! [8D]

This is my first year. I'll probably do it to get my first bird, after that then probably not. Unless it's the last day and I still have a tag!
