Struttin' tom decoy

Anyone used a struttin' tom decoy I seen the Primos guys use one on the truth 17. I think it would work great in most situations, what do you guys think.

I think that would be the last thing I'd ever use, even on private land where I 'thought' there wouldn't be anyone else around. Just to dangerous IMHO

Where I hunt it would get me shot for sure. I'm with Ray on this one, I would never use it in any situation.

I used one and called in my biggest bird ever! shot him at 2 yards. they had recently plowed the fields and i set him out along with a hen.....first called he nailed it not 50 or 60 yards away......flew down at 615 and i had a long shot at him, 50 yards or so. I waited and waited and he would only gobble now and then. I couldn't see him as I was in brush along the edge of the field. he was strutting over in the corner the whole time trying to draw the hen away from the strutter decoy.......finally came along the edge and i shot him at 2 yards.......it was awesome........got him mounted in full strut as well! i was on private land and i put the decoy out in the field so the only way if anyone shot at it, they would have to be right out in front of me to hit me.......oh well, i have used it once or twice but it gets to be a pain

I would like to give one a try, but considering our game wardens are so stretched out that they can't catch the people shooting turkeys from roads with high powered rifles. Well, that kinda changes my mind.

But for the most part, I try to stay away from the fields and roads, so I might still give one a try. THey are expensive though. Espically the pretty boy and girl.

I use a Struttin' Tom Decoy. I'm really impressedhow well they bring that mean ole Tom in. I am super careful however to position it so if someone gets trigger-happy & punctures it my wife & I ARE NOT in the line of fire.

I would love to try one but they are so expensive. If I can learn to mount my own turkeys I might use my first mount as a decoy. The only thing is they are probable a pain to carry around.

a strutting tom would be a great thing when hunting a TRUE boss tom....i think jakes and young 2yr olds would probably see him and shy away...just my thoughts.....though i had a very very brave jake beat a big tom to me last year on the first day...had the big boy on a sting coming to the calls..45yds strutting...just enjoying his show..ready to smoke him when he quit strutting....out of nowhere a jake ran AROUND him and straight to me......that tom was MAD..had a bunch of jakes(atleast 3-5) gobbling hard core coming to my calls in a diffrent spot....i was hunting a TRUE bosstom king of the woods...had him going first....he was about 60yds away ontop of a hill just out of sight....i never seen the jakes but they didnt sound like mature birds...all short gobbles and going bonkers...never quit gobbling...i heard that big ole bird THUMP atleast one of them younger birds...i think a jake decoy would work better...then atleast the birds that arent boss toms will still come in for a fight..
