Tail feathers
 

I myself always save my tail fans, beards and legs (spurs). I always dry and cure them and make the tail fan in full strut. How many others do the same thing. Ive seen others just breast a turkey out and throw the rest away. To me all the turkeys Ive killed are trophys. I also hang everyone on my walls.

i do the same. only thing is i need a cool way to put the legs w/ the fan and the beard.

I have too much stuff on the walls already.[8D]We have a small space to live.3br,living room.2bath.kitchen.I have already gotten a bobcat,fox,4 deer,a tail fan w/beard,and 2 turkey cape mounts.Tomorrow I'm going to take another deer to the taxidermist.So,I can't keep them all.Some get shot up,some lose feathers flopping around.

When I shoot a turkey.I run up to them,and push my hand on their body.I then grab both legs,and then lay on him until he stops moving.This is the best way I have found to keep him from damaging his feathers.I have started to fix capes,and give them to friends,since I have no more room.This is what one of my capes look like.I was holding the camera a little crooked to get the light to make the feathers shine....:)

i have all my fans (but one that a coon got..still have the pieces...lol), all beards and spurs...i've got like 6 fans that i need to do something with but have no clue what to do with them...any ideas? keep in mind that wall space is VERY limited!!! thanks

Huntress,How bout somethin like this?Takes about 5 tails and a styrofoam ring(get at a craft store) to make.At Christmas time the wife puts a red bow on it.

PA - here is what I do - make my own.

Spurs, wingbone call - beard - shotshell hull I used and fan mount.

I do the same. I always keep the beard, spurs and fan. I like to get a picture with everyone as well.

Some of the more hardcore bowhunters save the tailfeathers for arrow fletchings too.
