Xtended™ Range Hi-Density

Im looking into shooting these shells for turkey hunting this spring outta a remington 870 3.5" and was wondering if I need a special choke tube or I can I use factory super full? and is there any recommended choke that you like to shoot? thanks

you should look into a choke rated for HeviShot

A hunting buddy and I have had great results out of the Primos Jellyhead and Xtended Range in our 870s.

I found this in an article.

Although Winchester says that they’re softer than Hevi-Shot, they’re still quite hard and only suitable for use in guns approved for steel.
I would look into any choke that is capable of shooting steel/hevi-shot.That primos choke is great.I have an H.S.Undertaker choke, and it is fair.

I have been doing a lot of reading about this load b/c I too plan on trying it. From what I have been gathering is that it does better in chokes closer suited for lead than Hevi-shot. This may be because the X-tended range is softer than Hevi-shot.

If you check out the NWTF forum it has tons on this subject.

Whtaillqnd1, I wouldn't think you'd need a special choke as that factory Super Full is probably the same one I ordered.I'd start with the one you have and shot the Xtended Range shells at 20/30/40. If you are getting the pattern you want then you are good to go. If not, then spend a little on either another manufacturer's shell and try it or pick up a different choke and give it a try. I've been using the Remington 870 Super mag for quite a few years now and picked up two chokes along the way...A factory Rem super full and a MAD choke. Last spring I patterned Rem Hevy Shot, Winchester Xtended, and Federal Flight Control Wadd as I was sighting in my red dot scope. I found the Xtended Range patterned best in mine but it can be different for someone else with the same gun from what I've learned thru the forums. There are alot of Chokes out there and I'm sure someone here can steer you in the right direction there. I've heard Compu-chokes,KICKS, or the Undertakerwere good ones. I'm just throwing my own experience withmy Remington out there as an example. Man, those Xtended Range Winchester shells hit hard. I haven't shot anything out of my gun yet that has the power of those shells.
