Just leave it in black. whats the use of a camo stock with a black barrel? I honestly see no reason in buying a camo gun, all of mine are matt black. the key to just about any animals sight is MOVEMENT. Just make sure it doesn't shine and be still.

BPS , does have a point,

If anything , maybe go back to where the gun was bought and tell them what you are after and see if they will exchange it for a camo modle , even if you have to wait for a month or so...BT

I'd just leave it black. My old dull brown wooden stock didn't bother the birds any, its just that my shoulder didn't like the punishment of patterning my gun. The only reason I changed my stock to a camo one was because at the time I was looking to upgrade my recoil pad to a limbsaver one, there weren't any that fit the wooden stocks, just the synthetic ones. After the season at WallyWorld, I saw an 870 camo stock on sale markedas $26 so I grabbed it. It rang up as $13, so i didn't complain at all!

I have a black 870 and see no need to camo it. As long as your gun is a dull finish don't waste your money.

I use a 11-87 SP which I have not camoed at all and have never had a problem with it spooking birds.

Now as for the black stock think of this.

It is tucked into your shoulder for the shot - and you are pointing straight onto the bird - how the heck will camo help you?

All hunkered down for the tha shot the bird at best MIGHT see the barrel - but I bet not, as it is MOVEMENT they pickup on.

Just my 2 cnts.

and food for thought
