BOSSTOM Takes a PA Fall Bird
Yesterday in PA , Fall turkey hunting I took a Dandy Longbeard. This is something that is not easy to do is to kill a longbeard in the Fall , let a lone in PA. We setup on a group of longbeards that where visiting a Oak ridge in the afternoons. I found a nice little setup with some cover to hide any movement in a clear area and made some soft single Clucks every now and then.
After a hour and a half and as I slowing kept an eye on a field edge and the ridge their they appeared. A few heads coming alone the edge of the field feeding. It was hard to see if it was a group of hens or Gobblers , but not long I noticed beards and sat with the 20 gauge up and waited out to find the longest beard in the group. At 35 yards the Bennelli dropped the largest Tom in the group. 18 Lbs 9in thick beard 3/4 spurs What a charge to be able to take a Longbeard in the fall. Guess that should score up in the contest for team 6 for Fall birds Boys...BT |

mauser, what part of SW PA are you from as I am from somerset county. I love hunting pa turkeys, just shot a hen last night. I called in a dozen or so that had a 1 or 2 gobblers in it. There's nothing like turkey hunting.
Adrian, congrats....that is a nice looking bird. |

RE: BOSSTOM Takes a PA Fall Bird
Thank guys , but it was just one of them easy PA birds, you know the kind that has never been hunted [8D] A friend took a hen on Game lands a couple nights later , who ever let it out of the cage did it right at the right time when I was heading into hunt , because it was easy aswell after running up and down them dam hills there [:@] :D
Joe, do them Palm trees turn red in the fall ? :) I want tyo see your pic's bud when you get at it ...BT |
RE: BOSSTOM Takes a PA Fall Bird
I wanted t call this Ol Boy beside me stone face , but he has a slight smile so I better not ;)
Jim did a good job patterning this group of birds and should smile as the Zoo fence is in the trees in the background and the birds just plain walked out to our awfull calling. A couple of old boys that have taken a number of birds and this one being my 99th turkey , I can tell you, I don't know how to hunt these birds, because I've been told that if I have taken more then 20 birds I'm hunting easy unhunted tame turkeys, But over all , I still like the sport even if they are these easy PA turkeys ;) ...BT ![]() |

congrats to all on their birds. :)
i havent seen a bird all season, pretty much the season's been full of ***holes and people who dont know what the he*l their talking about. ive been out 2 saturdays, and i think ived walked probably 20 miles total on account of these people, but whoever said fall turkey hunting was easy (especially in PA :D) hopefully the last day of turkey season will be better. |
