Could you, would you use a 20 ga. to hunt turkey with? I'm new to this and looking for advise. Thanks.

OH yeah!! You might not get quite the range out of the 20 but they can make great turkey guns!! Get the right choke and shell combo and you can have awesome patterns.

I've read of guys who've killed turkeys with .410's. You just have to get them in close enough (which is half the fun anyways, to me).

With all these new non-toxic "heavy" loads on to the market, the 20 is gaining in popularity in some turkey hunting circles. I know two guys who use the 20 for turkeys, and like it.

20 gauges work fine. Just makes sure you operate within the gun and load's limitations.

My youngest son killed his first turkey with an old Browning auto5 20 gauge with 2 3/4" number 6s and a 28" full choke barrell, at 27 yds, stone dead.

My oldest son killed his first turkey with a 20 gauge Nova using #5 HeviShot at 55 yds. (That was a case of misjudged distance and youthful impatience, but gives you an idea of what can be done with a 20 gauge.)
