How many of you think this is right.
 

Nebraska has been blessed with an overwhelming amount of turkeys in central nebraska. So many that they have became a major problem for all the farmers in the area. Many farmers in the the area report groups of 300 to 400 turkeys on thier land. With this many turkeys they absolutly distroy field, ruin crops, and eat several piles of feed that the farmers have set aside for thier cattle. This is great for hunters,But terrible for farmers. For many years we have asked for the game and parks commission to raise the bag on turkeys to try and lower the population, But they never due. Instead what they did was released mountain lions all over the country side. Now if you ask the game and parke commission about this they will deny all of this, But i have talked to at least 4 farmers that have seen them release the lions. Now the only reason they would do this is to try and decrease the turkey population. Instead the mountain lions are killing all the deer, the farmers horse's, and a lot of cattle. do you think what the game and parks commission is right. I know if i see a mountain lion i am going to shoot, shuvle, and shut up.

The rumors of the DNR in Illinois releasing cougars have been going around for years. I have never actually seen one, nor has anyone that I hunt with. Its always a friend of a friend that spots one....if you get my drift.

ya i know what you mean, i have heard alot of rumors too, But a farmer actually
had a picture of one of his horse's that was attacked by a lion and i've never seen
a claw mark that big. To big to be a bobcat.

If in fact it is true, no it certainly isn't the right answer and they will wipe out the deer population. Rumors of cats have spread through PA for years and I know certain credible witness's to said cats but until I see one for myself I have my doubts...of course if I see one then everyone can doubt me as well.

I'm not trying to insult you, but you probably need an expert to determine where the claws came from, maybe a biologist.

your probably right on the biologist thing, But i forgot to tell you guys that a friend of mine that lives 9 miles down the road from me has a video that he shot of a mountain lion crossing through his hunting land. Come to think of it, If i where that cat i would choose to live there to. Big canyons and realy thick tree groves.

My friends horse was attacked by one.it took a huge chuck outta the thigh and broke its knee the only reason it survived is he ran outside and shoot up in the air. I think they still had to put it down it did that much damage...i guess it coulda been a bear but he said it was a mountain lion.It was dark though soo.

I wish they could. We have talked to the game and parks commission about capturing some turkeys and releasing them in other states,But i have'nt seem them do much of that.

Mountain lions occur naturally in many places you probably would not expect. One of which is south texas. The owner of a ranch I used to hunt shot a mountain lion crossing a sendero on his ranch in webb county texas. I saw the pictures and everything. There are also other people i have heard of that have shot them in texas. Do a search on google about mountain lions in your state. It might suprise you.
